Spokane Community College has been awarded $200,000 raised by the CCS Foundation for the Avista Center for Entrepreneurship and the Integrated Business and Entrepreneurship Program. The program is an innovative and interdisciplinary approach to training future business leaders and entrepreneurs.
The two-quarter program helps students create their businesses from the ground up. Local business and community leaders and college instructors guide student teams through the process of developing a plan and launching a business.
These funds will ensure the program remains strong by providing scholarships, enhancing curriculum and to add to the Avista micro-enterprise loan fund, which allows graduates of the program to apply for much-needed start-up capital.
The campaign was supported by major donors including Avista, US Bank, Washington Trust, Bank of America, STCU, Washington State Employees Credit Union, the Klaue family, Red Lion Hotels Corporation, Itron, Wheatland Bank, Broadway Group, Travis Garske, Garco Construction, Banner Bank and Harriet Cheney Cowles.
