A Legacy of Leadership and Demand for Excellence
Legendary Athletic Director Dr. Maury Ray was the architect and driving force behind championship athletics at CCS. As the first CCS District Athletic Director/Dean of HPER, leading the department from 1978 until his retirement in 2005, his leadership and demand for excellence produced a legacy of champions unmatched by any school in the Pacific Northwest.
That legacy lives on. Since 1978, the Department has won more than 150 NWAC Championships, over 200 Regional Championships, three NJCAA National Championships, and two NATYCAA State Associations Championships. In other words, the Athletic Department is meeting the demand for excellence that was a main part of Dr. Ray’s philosophy.
Quality facilities are an essential element in maintaining that excellence. This year, in our new SFCC “Student Athletic Center,” we are proud to dedicate the renovated gymnasium in honor of Dr. Maury Ray.
Honoring his vision, we want to continue renovating the existing athletic facilities built early in Dr. Ray’s tenure. We ask for your supporting in funding these urgent and vital upgrades where our softball, baseball, and track athletes work so hard to bring trophies and accolades to CCS.
Your generosity in supporting the Bigfoot Athletics Fund will help ensure that we continue to provide the best to our student athletes, to support them as they learn and to encourage them to always follow in Maury’s footsteps by seeking the brightest and best future possible.
