Ever since my mom passed away from cancer five years ago, I’ve known that nursing is what I want to do with my life. Even though it was the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through, the hospice nurse who took care of my mom truly inspired me and made me want to give back and help other families going through what I went through.
I am currently in the RN program at SCC, and when I graduate, I plan to enroll at Boise State to get my bachelor’s degree, then go on to the BSN-DNP program at WSU to get my nurse practitioner degree. Once I get through school, I hope to dedicate my career to helping others and promoting health and wellness. I love helping people and am so grateful to have found a career path that I know is what I’m supposed to be doing with my life.
Since I am on my own pay for college, though, I was working three different jobs, which didn’t leave much time to study. Thanks to the scholarship from the Foundation, I am now down to one job, so I have time to put back into studies so I can maintain a good GPA. I currently have a 3.99 GPA! I am so grateful for the Foundation scholarship, and I am more determined than ever to finish my program and be the first person in my family to get a college degree. I can’t wait to save lives and try to give back some of the blessings that I have received.
