Each year, the Saling Awards for Excellence honors outstanding professional-exempt staff and administrators at the Community Colleges of Spokane. Any faculty, administrator, professional-exempt staff member, classified staff member, Trustee, or Foundation Board Member can submit a nomination.
Key to the selection committee’s evaluation of nominations are the CCS values of students first, equity, access, excellence, integrity, leadership, responsiveness and stewardship, as well as our mission to provide all students an excellent education that transforms their lives and expands their opportunities. Additionally, the committee will be looking for examples of fairness, collaboration, transparency and concern for other CCS employees.
The Saling Award was established in 2006 by Dr. Gerald Saling, former Spokane Falls Community College President and a former state legislator. Typically, three exceptional staff members are recognized each year.

New Process for Nominations
To help strengthen nominations and provide the selection committee with well-rounded information on nominees, we have moved to a two-step nomination process and will accept one nomination application per nominee. If other people nominate the same person as you during Step 1, you will be encouraged to collaborate on your nomination for Step 2. The Foundation will provide you with the names of other nominators.
Once Step 1 has concluded, we will reach out to you with more information and the link to the nomination application.
