Sasquatch Spotlight: Erin LaVoie

Meet Erin – Spokane native, SCC Alum, business owner, and World Champion Lumberjill Athlete. Erin attended Ferris High School before attending Spokane Community College and studying in the forestry program. While on campus one day, Erin saw the SCC Timbersports team, the Gyppos, practicing around the corner from her class. Intrigued by what they were doing, she joined in and fell in love with the sport of wood chopping. In the years since, Erin has gone on to compete in and win many titles, including three World Championships. Erin also holds two Guiness World Records, including one for the most Christmas trees chopped in two minutes – 27 trees!

Through her extensive lumberjill training, Erin developed a passion for health and fitness, which lead her to become the proud owner of Predation CrossFit in Spokane, where she has been training and coaching since 2011. Predation offers multiple classes every day, with many different coaches and members at all fitness levels.

As a proud SCC alum, Erin appreciates that the Spokane Colleges gave her an affordable education that did not leave her with a mountain of debt to earn her degree. Erin is offering a generous 10% discount on monthly memberships to those in the Spokane Colleges Alumni Network.
