Affordable childcare is a growing need for families in Spokane. With many parents balancing careers or pursuing their education, it can be a struggle to find safe, affordable options for their children. Numerica Credit Union is teaming up with Spokane Colleges Foundation to launch a $10,000 match challenge to support local childcare programs. From Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, donations to Spokane Colleges’ Head Start program will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $10,000. “Head Start gives kids a safe place to learn while parents work toward their dreams,” said Kelley Ferguson, Numerica Credit Union chief strategy officer. “Ensuring families have access to safe and affordable childcare is directly aligned with Numerica CARES for Kids and our work to eliminate youth poverty." Head Start serves nearly 800 children each year across 11 childcare centers and 60 classrooms in Spokane. The program also provides in-home services for 75 more children, ensuring families have the support they need. Donations will help purchase classroom supplies and stability services for Head Start families. “Community support like this makes a lasting impact across generations,” said Heather Beebe-Stevens, Spokane Colleges Foundation executive director. “We’re grateful to Numerica and every donor who helps us provide brighter futures for Spokane’s children.” To donate, visit https://bit.ly/SpokaneHeadStart.
