EMERGENCY AID

Emergency aid is available to students who have experienced an unforeseen financial hardship, such as a sudden illness, loss of wages, natural disaster, major accident, pending eviction, death of immediate family member, or the effects of COVID-19. Some applications also help you pay for childcare, buy textbooks, or even purchase a bus pass.

By submitting our Emergency Aid application, you’re applying to several funding opportunities at once. Applications are reviewed daily.  Funds will be dispersed to awarded students as early as April 8th through the Financial Aid offices. To apply, just click on the application link below and log in.


Requirements to Apply:

  • $1,000 max award per year

  • All awards are processed by financial aid

  • You must fill out the Budget Form in the application

  • No back balances will be paid

  • You must be a current student

  • You must have completed at least one quarter

  • You must be in good academic standing

Special Note on our COVID -19 Student Support Emergency Aid

The Foundation Board has allocated $30,000 to support students affected by COVID – 19. This initial allotment is to help students purchase computers so that they can complete their coursework remotely.

This fund allocates $150 per awarded student. Awarded students can use their award towards a laptop purchase, or can receive a laptop through Xfinity’s Internet Essentials plan.*


Notes on Applying:

  • Students should reference a specific need for a computer to finish their studies in their application.
  • Preference is given to 2nd year students.
  • A letter of recommendation from a faculty member is encouraged, but not required.

*Internet Essentials requires students to be on any form of public assistance, have no outstanding debt with Comcast, reside in an area where Comcast internet service is available, and have no existing internet for the past 90 days. Students interested in this program must be willing to sign up for the Internet Essentials deal* ($10 a month minimum).

Scholarships

The Foundation Scholarship Application is now open, awarding for the 2020-2021 academic year. You can apply to several scholarship opportunities at once using our General Application. This application can also auto-match students to other scholarship opportunities. Many of those opportunities require additional information, and we encourage you to apply for every scholarship you’re eligible for to increase your chances of an award! Search through our comprehensive Scholarship Index to find the right opportunities for you.  Students will hear about any awards as early as May of 2020.

Please note: you must be an admitted student to apply. 

Sign in directions: The email will be your first name, followed by the first initial of your last name, followed by the last four digits of your Student ID, followed by @bigfoot.spokane.edu. (Ie: johnr1234@bigfoot.spokane.edu). The password is your full Student ID number, unless you've changed your password already.
